Course Title: 
Rural Community Development

This is a compulsory course for all part 5 students in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, taken during the Rain Semester.

  • ‘Overview of Development theories from gender perspective’ to replace ‘community development theories’;
  • Access, use and control of rural natural resources from gender perspective;
  • Effects of modernisation and change in gender roles on the production and processing of food;
  • Men and women roles in Food/meal security in rural households;
  • ‘Rural poverty and Sustainable Rural Development in Nigeria from Gender perspective’ to replace ‘Rural development programmes in Nigeria’ ;
  • New Technologies in agriculture and Forestry and their consequences for gender relations and sustainable rural development in Nigeria;
  • Construction of gender in conjunction with the shaping, maintenance and development of rural space.
